ITEM 103-1012-R0599 Resolution Concerning the Retirement of Patricia P. Douglas, Professor of Accounting, School of Business Administration; The University of Montana-Missoula
THAT: Patricia P. Douglas, Professor of Accounting, in her 32 years of service to The University of Montana, has merited the appreciation and commendation of the Board of Regents of the Montana University System, and has earned recognition as Professor of Business Administration Emeritus.
EXPLANATION: After earning her Bachelor of Arts from The University of Montana, Professor Douglas briefly left the State to earn her Master of Business Administration and Ph.D. from the University of California in Berkeley. She returned to The University of Montana in 1966 to teach in the Department of Management and conduct research for the Bureau of Business and Economic Research. During her tenure at The University of Montana, Professor Douglas served also as the Director of Continuing Education and Summer Programs, Assistant to the President, Fiscal Affairs Vice President, and for the last 15 years as Professor of Accounting.
Professor Douglas has had numerous journal articles published as well as textbooks; been a commencement speaker at many high school graduations throughout the State; and been active as a member and/or director of numerous associations including the Montana Society of CPAs, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Institute of Management Accountants, Montana State Board of Investments, and Advisory Council for the Montana Science and Technology Alliance. Among her many awards are the Outstanding Alumnus Award for the School of Business Administration in 1991, Beta Alpha Psi’s Outstanding Teaching Award in 1993, and The University of Montana’s Distinguished Teaching Award in 1994.
Throughout her career at The University of Montana, Professor Douglas served the University and the community with distinction. In this dedicated service she has earned the respect of her students, colleagues, and associates throughout the University and the State of Montana. The Board and the University are grateful.
