Proposed Budget Initiatives for the FY06-07 Biennium
The budget initiatives (and their current status) that have been proposed or submitted to the Board of Regents include:
1. Train Workers and Create Jobs (Move to Workforce Development under Shared Leadership)
2. Protect Montana s Facilities and Create Jobs (Do not proceed with this initiative but work with the Architecture and Engineer Division)
3. Protect one of Montana s Largest Industries and Create Jobs (Move to Shared Leadership under Promotion Partnership)
4. Establish the Montana Health Sciences Center in Butte (Do not proceed with this initiative but possibly pursue with congressional delegation)
5. Establish the Institute for Biomedical Engineering and Research (Do not proceed with this initiative)
6. Provide Transition Funding for the Montana Tech Economic Development Resource Center (Move to Workforce Development under Shared Leadership)
7. Partnering with the K-12 Community to Address Issues in the No Child Left Behind Act (Move to Workforce Development under Shared Leadership)
8. Increasing the Supply of Health Care Workers to Strengthen Communities and Improve Health Care (Move to Workforce Development under Shared Leadership)
9. Increasing Agricultural Profitability and Sustainability Extension Cropping Systems Specialist (Move forward)
10. Increasing Agricultural Profitability and Sustainability Livestock Specialist (Move forward)
11. Implement the Fire Training Advisory Council Training Plan Add One Trainer (Modified since May)
12. Integrated Weed Management and Biotechnology (Move forward)
