         DCC expanded its Men's Baseball program this year by adding a Junior Varsity Team. In its first year of operation, the JV program recruited twenty-one young men from around the region. In light of last year's successful sports season, DCC is rapidly building a substantial reputation for both Men's Baseball and Women's Fast-Pitch Softball teams.

         Several DCC faculty members attended the T5 conference at MSU-Billings last week. The T5 program provides training for educators in the latest instructional technologies as well as the equipment for each participating institution to enhance the teaching-learning process.

         The Early Childhood Education program sponsored the second annual "For the LUV of Children" workshop conducted at the DCC campus on Saturday, September 15, 2001. This year's workshop concentrated on early childhood literary, science and music. Approximately 40 local early childhood education providers were in attendance.

         With the completion of a folf course at DCC, students have a new on-campus activity and a Glendive Boy Scout is closer to earning his Eagle Scout rank. John Cross, son of Justin Cross, DCC Dean of Administrative Services, needed a service project to earn his Eagle Scout rank. With direction and assistance from Matt Preusser, DCC resident life director, John helped with all stages of the courses design, development and construction.

         Two DCC faculty members, Bryan Stone and Majel Dominguez, initiated a new course offering this fall titled "Civil Rights in America." The course makes extensive use of the PBS film series "Eyes on the Prize" to examine a crucial period in American history (1954-1985).
