ITEM 110-1004-R0301 Approval of Proposal to Add an Option in Nature-Based Tourism to the Bachelor of Science Degree in Recreation Management; The University of Montana-Missoula
THAT: The Board of Regents of Higher Education authorizes The University of Montana-Missoula
to add a new option in Nature-Based Tourism to the Bachelor of Science Degree in Recreation
Management. The current Bachelor of Science in Recreation Management has only one
option in Recreation Resources Management.
EXPLANATION: The Nature-Based Tourism option at The University of Montana-Missoula will enrich
research and learning opportunities for students, faculty, and residents of the State
and region. The goal is to develop effective professional participants who successfully
integrate tourism decisions with natural resource concerns. The Nature-Based Tourism
option would utilize the teaching, research, and service expertise already housed
within The University of Montana-Missoula, particularly those of the School of Forestry.
