ITEM 113-2002-R1101 Authorization to Remodel a Portion of Cooley Lab; Montana State University-Bozeman
THAT: Consistent with the provisions of MCA 18-2-102, the Board of Regents of the Montana University System authorizes Montana State University-Bozeman to remodel a portion of Cooley Lab at Montana State University-Bozeman. The estimated cost for this project is $275,000.
EXPLANATION:
- Cooley Lab, constructed in 1960, is a science lab facility located on the west side of campus at Montana State University-Bozeman.
- Due to the lack of adaptive renovation in the past, significant analytical, biological storage and process equipment has been located in the buildings main exit corridors on all floors. Inspections by the Fire Marshall have identified the lack of properly constructed, fire-separated, space for this equipment as a significant fire and life-safety hazard which must be remedied immediately.
- This project will be financed with indirect cost recovery funds from federal research grants and will result in no new programs.
- This project requires the authorization of the Board of Regents and the consent of
the Governor.
