ITEM 114-2002-R0102   Authorization to Replace Outdoor Track Facilities; Montana State University-Bozeman

THAT: Consistent with the provisions of MCA 18-2-102 (2b&c), the Board of Regents of Higher Education authorizes Montana State University-Bozeman to replace deteriorated outdoor track and field facilities at Montana State University-Bozeman. The estimated cost for this project is $750,000.

 

EXPLANATION: 1. MSU-Bozeman has committed to host the Big Sky Athletic Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships in the spring of 2003.

2. The existing outdoor track and field facilities have deteriorated to such condition that they are no longer safe for track and field event participants. This project will remove the existing track, runways and aprons, and install new, properly graded facilities.

3. This project will be financed with a combination of non-appropriated funds, from Auxiliary Operations Revenue (Renewal and Replacement budget) in excess of debt service obligations and private donations. This project will result in no new programs.

4.       This project requires the approval of the Board of Regents and the consent of the Governor.
