ITEM 115-2801-R0502   Restructure of Auxiliary Parking Fees; Montana State University - Northern

 

THAT: The Board of Regents authorizes Montana State University - Northern to restructure its existing parking fee system by eliminating the current permit system and replacing it with a mandatory parking/access fee charged to all Havre Campus Students. Havre Campus Faculty and Staff would pay a yearly fee.

 

EXPLANATION: Currently students, faculty and staff purchase parking permits that range in price from $30 to $45 per year. The parking/access fee would be assessed at $2.25 per credit (max 12 credits) or $27 per semester for a full time student. Faculty and staff would pay a parking fee of $54/year.

Revenue generated will be used to renovate existing parking lots that have reached their useful life. Renovation of the parking lots would include lighting and sidewalk improvements.

Included also in this restructuring is the creation of a reserved parking option. Reserved parking spots will be available for a yearly fee of $150 and can be purchased by students, faculty and staff.
