ITEM 116-1006-R0902   Approval of Proposal to create a Minor in African American Studies; The University of Montana-Missoula

THAT: The Board of Regents of Higher Education authorizes The University of Montana to create a Minor in African American Studies.

EXPLANATION: The University of Montana has offered courses in African American Studies for the past three decades. In fact, it is among the earliest institutions in the United States to offer such courses. The creation of a Minor is a logical progression. It will enrich the multicultural contents of the institution's curricula.
