RE: Approval of Memorandum of Understanding with Montana University System Maintenance Painters Union

Attached is a memorandum of understanding with the Montana University System Maintenance Painters Union (Painters). The Painters represent 17 employees at UM-Missoula, MSU-Bozeman, MSU-Billings and Montana Tech. The memorandum only addresses changes to the prior agreement. The entire agreement can be viewed on line at https://mus.edu/hr/cba/collbarg.html.

No negotiations meetings were held with the Painters. In light of the pay freeze the parties opted to simply roll the prior agreement over for additional two years. Employees were given a 25-cent per hour increase effective January 1, 2005. The Regent policy granting a partial tuition waiver benefit to eligible dependents in FY 2005 was adopted. All other contract provisions remained unchanged.

The bargaining unit has already voted to approve the memorandum of understanding. I recommend the Regents approve the memorandum at their March meeting.
